STATESBORO – Georgia Southern Baseball has announced its 2019 schedule which features 28 home games. Appearances by Georgia, Georgia Tech and West Virginia in Statesboro as well as a trip to Auburn highlight the opening three weeks of a schedule which will test the Eagles.
In league play, the Eagles will welcome Little Rock, Texas State, South Alabama and Arkansas State to Statesboro. The Eagles will travel to UT Arlington, ULM, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Troy and Georgia State. Georgia Southern’s trip to Appalachian State is in response to the 2018 series which was moved to Statesboro due to inclimate weather.
“Our team is looking forward to playing another challenging schedule in 2019,” said Head Coach Rodney Hennon. “It is always good to see how your team plays on the road and we will get a tough test right out of the gate when we travel to Auburn for opening weekend. The early non-conference schedule should prepare us well for Sun Belt play and be helpful in building a strong RPI.”
The Eagles will have an opportunity to play close to home in the postseason with the 2019 Sun Belt Championships hosted by Coastal Carolina. The postseason starts on May 21st with the tournament running through the 26th just outside Myrtle Beach.
“I believe our fans will be really excited about our home slate,” added Hennon. “We need Eagle Nation out in full force this spring and continue to create a great atmosphere and advantage for our team on Jack Stallings Field at J.I. Clements Stadium.”
