It seems like Florida outfielder Austin Langworthy has been playing college baseball forever, but he’s just now entering his junior season.
In 2016 he was taken in the 31st round of the MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds.
As a freshman in 2017 he helped the Gators win the College World Series as he was named to the All-Tournament Team. That year he hit .238 in 193 at-bats with 37 runs scored, 10 doubles, 4 homeruns, 26 RBI, 7 stolen bases, and a .352 on-base percentage.
He also threw 17 innings on the mound in 2017, posting a 3.71 ERA with 11 strikeouts.
That summer he hit .243 in the Cape Cod League over 74 at-bats.
Last year he hit .290 for the Gators with a .404 on-base percentage, adding 33 runs scored, 10 doubles, 3 home runs, and 29 RBI. He also had a 2.70 ERA on the mound in just 6.2 innings pitched.
Langworthy found his power stroke this summer at the Cape hitting 7 home runs in 102 at-bats, but he hit just .206.
The Florida outfielder will hope to put it all together this year hitting for power and average. If he can do that, you’ll see him start to fly up draft boards.
