3.2K This Oregon outfielder was taken in the 39th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, but Jonny DeLuca chose to go the college route. Before stepping foot on campus he hit .287 in the West Coast League in 136 at-bats with 29 runs scored, 8 doubles, 2 home runs, 19 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. His freshman season didn’t go as expected hitting just .212 in 203 at-bats with 24 runs scored, just 5 doubles, 6 home runs, 32 RBI, and 6 stolen bases. He showed some promise this past summer at the Cape Cod League hitting .296 in 125 at-bats with 19 runs scored, 4 doubles, 1 home run, 18 RBI, and 6 stolen bases. DeLuca is a switch-hitter, but throws right-handed. At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds he gets around quickly in center field. I’d like to see him increase his walk total this year as he’s a threat on the base paths. That is what helped him generate a .369 on-base percentage in the Cape. Much improved over his . 270 total in his freshman season.
