2.4K Cory Wood returns to our countdown this year after coming in at 87 in 2018. The 5-foot-8, 170 pound utility player had another solid season in 2018, but didn’t quite take the step forward we were hoping for. After hitting .291 as a freshman with 41 runs scored, 3 home runs, 24 RBI, 16 stolen bases, and a .435 on-base percentage, he hit .296 last year with 61 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and a . 435 on-base percentage. However, his power regressed as a sophomore as he failed to hit a single home run. In the Coastal Plain League after his freshman season he hit .267 in 146 at-bats with 29 runs scored, 2 home runs, 22 RBI, and 15 stolen bases. This past summer he hit just .213 in the Cape Cod League over 108 at-bats with 20 runs scored, 2 home runs, 6 RBI, and 5 stolen bases. Still, we believe Cory is a very talented player and will be a difference maker for Coastal Carolina in 2019. Hopefully he can find his power potential again.
