Saint Louis baseball coach Darin Hendrickson announced the Billikens’ schedule today.
“It will be a fun year as we look to defend our Atlantic 10 title,” Hendrickson said. “To prepare us for that, we have a balanced and competitive nonconference slate.”
The Billikens begin the season on February 15 with a series against Miami (Ohio) at Hoover Metropolitan Complex in Hoover, Alabama. Those games will be followed by the team’s participation in the Westin Lake Mary Stetson Invitational. This tournament on March 1-3 will include games against Stetson, Sacred Heart, and Georgetown.
After playing their first 10 games of the season away from Billiken Sports Center, Saint Louis plays their first home game of the year on March 8 against Western Illinois.
“This year’s nonconference schedule is easily the most advanced we’ve had in the recent past,” Hendrickson said. “We’ll play two with Creighton (March 12-13), two with Illinois (March 19-20), and a three-game series with Big East Champ and NCAA regional team, St John’s (March 29-31).”
The Billikens’ 24 game A-10 schedule starts March 22 with a home series against Dayton. The team will also welcome St. Bonaventure, Rhode Island, and George Mason to their home turf in A-10 play. On the road in the conference, the Billikens will face UMass, Fordham, Davidson, and Richmond.
The 2019 A-10 Championship, hosted by Fordham, takes place May 22-25 at Houlihan Park in Bronx, New York.
To close things out, Hendrickson noted, “The schedule is very challenging, but we welcome the early season nonconference games to prepare us for an always challenging A-10 year.”
