ATHENS——The Georgia Bulldogs will have 31 games at Foley Field in 2019, featuring Southeastern Conference series with LSU, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Florida and Alabama.
The 56-game college baseball season begins Feb. 15 at Foley Field with a series against Dayton. Eight of Georgia’s first nine contests will be at home before a three-game series at Georgia Southern.
SEC play opens on the road for the third straight year, this time against South Carolina (March 15-17) while the Bulldogs SEC home opener will be with LSU (March 22-24). The other SEC home series will be with the Commodores (April 5-7), Tigers (April 18-20), Gators (May 3-5), and Crimson Tide to close out the regular season (May 16-18).
Along with the series in Columbia, S.C,, Georgia’s road trips in the conference will be at Kentucky (March 29-31), Tennessee (April 12-14), Mississippi State (April 26-28) and Auburn (May 10-12). Please note the ESPNU and SEC Network Thursday night selections have not been set, thus some SEC series may change to Thursday-Saturday.
The 17th annual Spring Baseball Classic to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will be April 23 as the Bulldogs battle their rival Georgia Tech at the Atlanta Braves home, SunTrust Park. The Bulldogs are 11-5 all-time against Tech in this game.
Also for the second year in a row, Georgia will play a game at SRP Park in North Augusta, S.C. The Bulldogs will face The Citadel on April 30 at 6 p.m. Last year in front of a crowd of 5,801, Georgia defeated No. 8 Clemson 6-3 in the home of the Augusta Green Jackets, the Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. This year, Georgia will be the home team at SRP Park.
The SEC Tournament will feature the league’s top 12 finishers in the regular season and be played in Hoover, Ala., from May 21-26. NCAA Regional action at various campus sites will be May 31-June 3 with Super Regionals from June 7-10. The 2019 season culminates with the College World Series (CWS) from June 15-26 in Omaha, Neb. The Bulldogs have made six appearances in Omaha including winning the national title in 1990 and reaching the CWS Finals in 2008.
Georgia will begin fall practice Sept. 20. The Bulldogs will play exhibitions against North Georgia on Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. and UNC-Asheville on Oct 14 at 2 p.m. at Foley Field. The annual Red versus Black Fall World Series will be Nov. 1-3. Admission is free for the exhibitions and the Fall World Series.
Georgia is in its sixth year under Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin. The Bulldogs welcome back 25 returning lettermen and nine newcomers. Georgia returns seven starting position players and several key components of the pitching staff. The 2018 Bulldogs earned a final top 20 national ranking after going 39-21 including 18-12 in the SEC. Georgia was a national No. 8 seed and played host to an NCAA Regional to cap its finest year in a decade.
