AUSTIN, Texas—Following a season in which it returned to the NCAA College World Series for an NCAA-record 36th time, Texas Baseball has announced its 2019 season schedule which will feature home contests against nonconference opponents LSU, Arkansas, and Texas A&M, and Big 12 Conference foes Texas Tech and Oklahoma.
The Longhorns are set to open the 2019 campaign on the road with a three-game series against Louisiana (February 15-17) before a midweek contest at Rice (February 19). Texas will then host its home opener on February 22 with the first of four games against Purdue (February 22-24).
Following a midweek game at home against Sam Houston State (February 26), the Longhorns will then host LSU in a three-game set (March 1-3), marking the Tigers’ first trip to Austin since 1998.
Texas will face off against UTRGV on March 5 before heading to Palto Alto, Calif., to take on Stanford in a four-game series from March 7-10.
After a midweek game at home against Texas Southern (March 12), the reigning Big 12 Conference champion Longhorns will then open league play with a three-game series against fellow College World Series participant Texas Tech on March 15.
From March 19-20, Texas will host former Southwest Conference foe Arkansas for a pair of midweek contests. The Longhorns and Razorbacks, who also met in the College World Series last season, have not faced off in Austin since the NCAA Regional in 2005.
Texas returns to conference action the following weekend at TCU (March 22-24) and stays on the road for a midweek contest against Incarnate Word (March 26).
Taking a break from Big 12 play, the Longhorns will host Xavier for a weekend series (March 29-31) and Texas A&M for a midweek contest at UFCU Disch-Falk Field (April 2).
The Longhorns head to Waco for a three-game series at Baylor (April 5-7) before returning home for a six-game stand that will see Texas host Rice (April 9), Kansas State (April 12-14), and Lamar (April 16). After a Big 12 series on the road at Oklahoma State (April 18-20), Texas is set to play Texas State (April 23) on the road and a three-game conference set at home against West Virginia (April 26-28).
Following a Tuesday night contest against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at Whataburger Field, home of the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks, the Longhorns head back on the road for a weekend series at Kansas (May 3-5). On May 7, Texas hosts the Bobcats of Texas State.
The final weekend of the regular season will see the return of the Red River Showdown as Big 12 opponent Oklahoma comes to UFCU Disch-Falk Field for a three-game series (May 16-18).
