KENT, Ohio-The Kent State University baseball team released its schedule for the 2019 season. In addition to the 27-game Mid-American Conference schedule, the Flashes will face four opponents that made NCAA Regional appearances in 2018.
Kent State will lead off the season with a 14-game stint on the road, beginning with a three-game series at Dallas Baptist University (Feb. 15-17). The Patriots concluded the 2018 season at the Fayetteville Regional with a 42-21 record.
The Flashes will then travel to Conway, South Carolina, facing Michigan State, North Carolina State, and Coastal Carolina in single game match ups. Both Coastal Carolina and NC State hosted an NCAA Regional, ending their seasons with over 40 wins.
Kent State will also make trips to Charleston, South Carolina (facing Charleston Southern and the Citadel), UNC at Charlotte, and West Virginia University before hosting Youngstown State for the home opener March 12.
The Flashes will host Northwestern University for a three-game series before kicking off the Mid-American Conference schedule at home against Miami University on March 22.
Kent State will face Cansius College for single games on April 9 (away) and April 24. The Griffs ended the 2018 season at the NCAA Minneapolis Regional.
The Flashes concluded its 2018 campaign 40-18, marking a fifth 40-win season in the last decade. KSU made an NCAA Regional appearance and swept both the regular and post-season conference championships. The program has won at least 30 games in each of the past 20 years.
