Who would’ve believed it? Brett Kinneman started at 0 for 8 at the plate this year -that’s eight at-bats and eight outs. And then, in the blink of an eye, everything he had been working for since winning those PIAA titles at West York showed itself in the kind of rush of success that he would never have been able to predict! The junior left-fielder at North Carolina State University started off on the the most scorching hitting displays in the USA, one that may only now be drawing to a close.
Kinneman Leads the Nation
Kinneman is still leading the nation with 76 total bases and 32 RBIs, and he has tied for the lead with 11 home runs. All of his work has helped push his Wolfpack, 18 – 3, to a Top 15 ranking, and the best baseball start the team has enjoyed in the past 19 years in the strong Atlantic Coast Conference. You can be sure that the punters who enjoy the sports betting NZ and the rest of the world has to offer are sitting up and taking notice!
Kinneman’s Trying to Do Better
Kinneman has said that hitting comes down to timing, and that this has been really good for him over the last while. He also acknowledged that the wind had been blowing in his favour, and that he had been fortunate to get a little lift on some of the balls.
Kinneman credits his stupendous start to simply cleaning up his swing and trying to do things better since he ended a solid but hardly spectacular sophomore season. His approach to hitting has been aimed at making contact, rather than always swinging to try and hit the ball 500 feet. He says that this new way of looking at things has helped him.
And He is Seeing Results
The results have managed to earn him national renown as the ACC season deepens and the MLB draft approaches and he may well end up on a baseball card one day. He has twice been named Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week, as well as National Player of the Month by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
During a stretch of 16 games, Kinneman managed to bat .456, 31 of 68, and hit ten of his home runs. This matched his season total from the whole of 2017! Overall, the left-handed hitter owns a .371 average for the Wolfpack, which will become .407 if you take out the anomaly of 0 for 8 to start things off.
Greg Kinneman Weighs In
Brett’s dad, Greg Kinneman, who coaches the baseball team at Dallastown, which went through to playing for a state title in 2017, said that his son has always been a power hitter. His father stated that what was being seen was the maturing process of a hitter who had always had the power and the bat speed. His dad said that Brett’s plate discipline is what needed to improve, and, now, when he’s getting that pitch, he is able to make the most of it.
