FARMVILLE, Va. – Ryan Mau made the final addition to the baseball coaching staff with the hiring of Garrett Lovorn for the 2017-18 season.

“Garrett Lovorn is an energetic, up-and-coming coach who will assist in the development of the Longwood pitching staff,” Mau said. “He brings with him playing experience from some very reputable collegiate programs in Clemson and Lander, and we are excited to have him joining us.”

Lovorn comes to Farmville from Lander University, where he pitched for the Bearcats in 2017 as a redshirt senior after graduating from Clemson in 2016. The right-hander made 15 appearances with five starts, tossing 36.2 innings at Lander.

Lovorn brings with him the experience of pitching at a high profile program and work experience from his time in college. He worked with Clemson’s baseball camp and several community camps while in school. Lovorn worked within Clemson’s department of recreation and volunteered at the Greenville Health Center, also working as an Emergency Relief Person (ERP).

Lovorn began his collegiate career at Clemson, making 19 appearances in two seasons of action. Lovorn posted a 3.46 ERA in his career, putting together a 2.35 ERA in 10 appearances in 2016. The right-hander was a part of a Clemson team that won all four games to clinch the championship in the 2016 ACC Tournament, hosted an NCAA Regional, and won 44 games.

A native of Pendleton, South Carolina, Lovorn graduated from Clemson May 2016 with a degree in Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Management.
