HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison baseball team released a 56-game schedule for the 2018 campaign, highlighted by hosting the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on May 22 through May 25. The Dukes will face off against 2015 College World Series Champion Virginia, Maryland and NC State as well as travel to Newark, Del. for a weekend series against reigning CAA Champion Delaware.
“I really like the 2018 schedule, I think our out-of-conference opponents are going to prepare us for conference play,” Head Coach Marlin Ikenberry said. “I’m really excited about this schedule; we’re hosting the CAA Championship and having 30 home games is really great for the city of Harrisonburg and college baseball.”
James Madison will open its season by traveling to High Point, N.C. for a weekend series against High Point University from Feb. 16-18. Following the series, the Dukes will play their first mid-week tilt against Liberty on Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Lynchburg. Feb. 23-25 is slated for the home opener series against Albany.
The Albany series marks the first of six consecutive home weekend series where the Dukes will host Fordham (March 2-4), St. Bonaventure (March 9-11), UMass Lowell (March 16-18), Elon (March 23-25) and Northeastern (March 30-April 1). JMU will travel to Charleston, S.C. (April 6-8) for their first away conference series against College of Charleston.
In addition to the Liberty game, James Madison’s midweek schedule includes Richmond (Feb. 28, March 21), Tennessee (March 6-7), Virginia (March 14), VMI (March 28, April 4), Maryland (April 10, April 25), George Mason (April 11, April 18), Longwood (April 17, May 15), Norfolk State (April 24) and NC State (May 8-9).
James Madison will face off against Elon, Northeastern, William & Mary (April 13-15), Delaware (April 20-22), UNC Wilmington (May 4-6) and Hofstra (May 11-13) in conference play. The Dukes will close out the season playing eight
of their last nine games on the road, including conference foe Towson on May 17-19 to conclude the regular season.
