Scott Stover steps away from Solano College for two years
Sometimes it’s time to step away and breathe.
The many hats that have to be worn by today’s college baseball coaches around the country can take a toll on even the most rugged of men. Scott Stover has dedicated the last 15 years of his life to building a successful program as the head baseball coach at Solano College, pulling whatever strings were necessary to make it the best it could possibly be.
A well-deserved break was in order, and he’s elected to take it. Stover is going on sabbatical and will not coach the Falcons for two seasons.
“It was time,” Stover said by phone Wednesday. “Coaching became kind of a 24 hour per day deal. Between practice, field preparation, recruiting, study hall, making sure everybody remained eligible; it just began to add up and I needed to step away to recharge my batteries. The program is going to be fine and we’re still going to be competitive, I’m not worried about that.”
