Former CofC coach Matt Heath files lawsuit against School
Former College of Charleston baseball coach Matt Heath has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit over his firing, alleging that the school didn’t give him an opportunity to defend himself against accusations that he had created a “toxic program” for players.
The suit, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Charleston, seeks unspecified damages for emotional distress and alleged harm to Heath’s reputation. The College of Charleston, school president Glenn McConnell and athletic director Matt Roberts are named as defendants.
College of Charleston fired Heath on June 30 after two seasons as the Cougars head coach.
Zach Iverson joins Michigan State’s Squad
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State baseball head coach Jake Boss Jr., announced that Zach Iverson will be joining MSU in the fall of 2017. Iverson is a utility player from Charlotte, North Carolina (Providence Day School).
“We’re excited to add Zach to the Spartan Baseball family. He is a young man that is very athletic, swings the bat extremely well, and has a chance to pitch for us as well,” Boss said. “Most importantly, he is a quality kid from a strong family and they have ties to the state of Michigan, so it is almost a homecoming for him. We’re glad that he’ll be wearing Green & White this fall.”
