St. John’s Cory Muscara added to Maryland’s Coaching Staff

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland baseball head coach Rob Vaughnannounced the addition of Corey Muscara as an assistant coach Monday. Muscara, who previously served as an assistant at St. John’s for five seasons, will handle Maryland’s pitching staff.

“The number one thing that I was looking for in hiring a pitching coach was a guy that had a ton of passion for developing young men and had a vision for what this place is going to be,” Vaughn said. “Over the last five years, every game that I have been recruiting, Corey has been right there — and I just got tired of fighting him for players. He is a relentless recruiter and his track record for developing pitchers at St. Johns speaks for itself. We can’t wait to welcome his wife, Suzie, and his son, Theodore, to College Park and build something very special here.”

“I think it’s an extremely good foot in the door,” Reavis said. “I’ll be getting a little more responsibility than I think most people would because they know how I handle myself. They have a little more confidence knowing I know how they want things done.”

New experiences for Catawba College’s Shepherd

When Catawba College baseball players reunite this fall, Hunter Shepherd may be able to spin the best “how I spent my summer vacation” tales.

Shepherd, a rising sophomore who was the SAC Freshman of the Year, currently lives on an island and requires a ferry ride, followed by a bus ride, to get to his away games. Following games, he travels back with his teammates on the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks via fishing boat.
