College of Charleston’s Head Coach Matt Heath out

College of Charleston head coach Matt Heath has been relieved of his duties according to multiple reports. John Whittle of The Big Spur tweeted out the following.

WCIV Sports Reporter Daren Stoltzfus tweeted out the following letter which was sent to the players to inform that Heath was no longer the coach.

ABC News 4 reporter Dean Stephens tweeted out a statement from Coach Heath which you can see below.

July 1st at 7:40pm, College of Charleston released the following statement:

Matt Heath is no longer the head coach of the College of Charleston baseball program as of Friday, June 30, 2017.

The College thanks Coach Heath, his family and his staff for all of their contributions to the Cougars baseball program over the years. Coach Heath has spent seven years as an assistant coach and the past two years as the head coach. The College wishes him well in his future endeavors.

Assistant Coaches Austin Morgan and Jeff Whitfield will serve in their same capacities during this transition. The search to hire the College’s next head baseball coach will begin immediately.

Heath has been under investigation by the university over the last few weeks (LINK) and we will update this post with more information as it comes available.
