BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—An 11-game home stand to start the season highlights the 2017 baseball schedule that was announced recently by CSU Bakersfield head coach Bob Macaluso.
The campaign begins Feb. 17 when the Roadrunners host a three-game series against defending Pac-12 champion Utah. The first midweek game of the year occurs Feb. 21 when UC Santa Barbara comes to Hardt Field. A busy week continues Feb. 23 when Portland travels to Bakersfield to begin a four-game set.
The home stand concludes Mar. 2-4 when defending West Coast Conference champion BYU comes to Hardt Field for a three-game series. The Roadrunners hit the road for the first time and begins a seven-game road trip Mar. 7 at Cal Poly. CSUB then travels to Omaha, Neb. to face Creighton Mar. 10-12 before going to UC Riverside Mar. 17-19.
CSUB returns home Mar. 21 to face Big 10 power Nebraska before opening Western Athletic Conference play at Grand Canyon Mar. 24-26. After playing at Loyola Marymount Mar. 29, the ‘Runners play their first home WAC series Mar. 31-Apr. 2 against UTRGV.
Apr. 4 sees the Roadrunners begin a four-game road trip at UC Irvine. The trip concludes Apr. 7-9 at Chicago State. The next five CSUB games will be at home against CSUN (Apr. 11), Utah Valley (Apr. 13-14), and Cal Poly (Apr. 18).
The Roadrunners step out of league play Apr. 21-23 when CSUB is at 2016 NCAA Tournament participant, Arizona State. The ‘Runners are at UC Santa Barbara Apr. 25 before they head to Sacramento State Apr. 28-30. The month of May begins on the second when CSUB hosts UC Irvine.
The ‘Runners host Northern Colorado May 5-7 before traveling to CUSN May 9. The final four home games will be played May 10 against Loyola Marymount and May 12-14 versus Seattle U. The regular season concludes May 18-20 at NM State. The WAC Tournament begins May 24 and will be played at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz.
