ELON, N.C. – A slate of 55 games, including 34 at Latham Park, await the Elon University baseball team in the upcoming 2017 season. The schedule, as announced by Phoenix head coach Mike Kennedy, features 14 games against teams that participated in NCAA Tournament play last year. Season tickets for the upcoming campaign will be available for purchase beginning Monday, Dec. 12.
Said Kennedy, “Our goal continues to be to put together a very challenging schedule each year. We try to balance a competitive CAA slate with a demanding non-conference schedule to put our players in a position that requires them to play and compete at a high level each and every week. At the same time, we want to allow our fan base to see great college baseball right here on campus.”
Elon will open the 2017 campaign on Feb. 17 with a three-game home series with Longwood.
The home non-conference slate also includes dates with Bowling Green, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, High Point, Liberty, UMass, UNCG, North Carolina State, Radford, VMI and Wake Forest. In non-league play, Elon will travel to Clemson, East Carolina, High Point, Liberty, North Carolina, UNCG and Wake Forest.
Elon begins CAA play at home with Northeastern on March 24. Along with the Huskies, the Phoenix will host Delaware, James Madison and UNCW in league play. The Phoenix will play CAA contests at Charleston, Hofstra, Towson and William & Mary.
