SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The University of San Diego baseball schedule was released today for the upcoming 2017 season. The Toreros schedule starts with three games against College World Series participant Vanderbilt inside the friendly confines of Fowler Park on Feb. 17-19.
The Annual Tony Gwynn Memorial Classic will again be held at home for the Toreros and will include Oregon, Notre Dame and Seton Hall in a three-day competition, February 24-26. Then, the Oregon Ducks will stick around and play San Diego on February 27 in a non-conference game at Fowler Park.
The following week, the Toreros will head to Los Angeles, Calif. to compete in the Dodgertown Classic for the first time against USC, UCLA and Michigan (Mar. 3-5).
Heading into regular season play, San Diego will travel to Louisiana to take on LSU in an evening game in Baton Rouge on March 7. Then they will head to New Orleans for a four-game series versus Tulane (Mar. 9-12).
On Saint Patrick’s Day, USD will begin West Coast Conference play competing against Portland at home in a three-game series. WCC play will continue for the Toreros in Santa Clara, Calif. against the Broncos March 24-26 and they’ll return home to welcome University of San Francisco to kick off the month of April.
The next month includes home-stands versus WCC opponents, University of Pacific (April 13-15) and BYU (April 20-22) and away games against Gonzaga University (April 7-9) in Spokane, Wash. and Loyola Marymount University (April 28-30) in Los Angeles, Calif.
May’s conference play kicks off in Moraga, Calif. against 2016 WCC Champions, Saint Mary’s (May 5-7) with a three-game series. For the final WCC match-up, the Toreros will play at Fowler Park against Pepperdine from May 19-21.
Other highlights include the Toreros’ match-up against cross-town rivals, San Diego State twice during the 2017 the season. In other non-conference games, the Toreros will compete against Cal State Fullerton (Mar. 21, April 18), UC Riverside (Mar. 28, April 11), Long Beach State (May 2) and University of New Mexico (April 5) in single games. They will also host a three-game series against Sacramento State (May 12-14).
The WCC tournament will once again be held in Stockton, Calif. at Banner Island Ballpark from May 25-27.
