USAF Academy, Colo. – Air Force baseball released its 2017 schedule, announced today by head coach Mike Kazlausky. The 55 game slate features neutral-site games against Army West Point and Navy and road games at perennial power LSU.
The Falcons are scheduled for 23 home games with non-conference visits from Creighton, Northern Colorado, Omaha and Portland.
Air Force opens the 2017 with four games in three days in Louisiana. The Falcons play Army West Point and LSU on Feb. 17 at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. Air Force will play at Tulane on Feb. 18 and then wrap up the weekend at LSU on Feb. 19.
The Falcons also play its yearly series with Navy at the Freedom Classic at Historic Grainger Stadium in Kinston, NC, Feb. 24-26. Air Force will also play a road game against Creighton, April 29, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, home of the Div. I College World Series.
Air Force opens conference play with its first home series, March 3-5, against New Mexico. Home conference games will also feature series with Fresno State (March 17-19), UNLV (April 7-9), Nevada (28-30) and San Diego State (May 12-14).
Air Force plays a neutral-site game with new in-town rival UCCS, which begins its first season in 2017. The Falcons play UCCS May 2 at Security Service Field, home of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Air Force wraps up the season with a three-game non-conference series, May 18-20, at Charleston Southern.
The Falcons look to qualify for the 2017 Mountain West Championship, which is slated for May 24-28. In a new format, the top four teams will make the championship, to be played at the home site of the first-place team after head-to-head conference competition.
