NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara University Department of Athletics is excited to announce its plans to significantly enhance Bobo Field, the home of the baseball program, and Niagara Softball Field. The quiet phase of the development plan has been extremely successful and the project is just months away from commencing.
“The student-athlete experience is at the heart of everything we want to achieve,” Niagara University Director of Athletics Simon Gray said. “Providing a first-class facility for our baseball and softball programs is incredibly important as we build a culture that demands excellence. This facility will also benefit the community as we look forward to hosting many events in these transformed venues.”
The project, which will start immediately upon the conclusion of the 2017 season, will be the newest updates to Bobo Field, which was named for John P. Bobo, ’65, a member of the U.S. Marine Corps who was killed in Vietnam on March 30, 1967, and the softball complex, which has been the home of the softball program since 1990. The renovations are scheduled to be complete by the end of August 2017, in time for the teams to compete in their fall seasons.

The renovations will help transform these facilities and close the competitive gap within the conference by improving the student-athlete and fan experience, and by strategically overcoming the challenges the programs face due to the Western New York climate. The project highlights include a complete redesign of both complexes, synthetic turf, expanded seating areas, new scoreboards, and enhanced backstops.
