CHARLESTON, S.C. — The College of Charleston baseball team has released its 55-game 2017 schedule, which includes 30 games at Patriots Point, announced head coach Matt Heath on Wednesday.
The Cougars’ home slate is highlighted by non-conference visits from 2016 national champion Coastal Carolina (April 19) and national runner-up Arizona (May 12-14), as well as Cincinnati (Feb. 24-26), The Citadel (March 3 and 5), East Carolina (March 7 and 8), Kent State (March 10-12), North Florida (March 14), Clemson (March 21), Georgia Southern (March 28) and Charleston Southern (May 16).
Home conference series include matchups against Hofstra (March 24-26), UNC Wilmington (March 31 – April 2), Towson (April 21-23) and Elon (April 28-30).
“This will be a very competitive schedule with a lot of good RPI games,” said Heath. “There will be some very good non-conference weekends, and tough mid-week games as well. Our players are excited for the challenge that lies ahead.”
Notable road trips include a season-opening series at Georgia (Feb. 17-19), a pair of single-game matchups at Coastal Carolina (Feb. 22 and May 10), a three-game set at Nebraska (March 17-19), and a visit to Clemson (April 25).
The Cougars will open Heath’s second season at the helm on February 17 in Athens, Ga. with the first game of a three-game series against Georgia at 5:00 pm. The six-team, double-elimination 2017 Colonial Athletics Association Baseball Championship will take place from May 24-27 in Wilmington, N.C. on the campus of UNC Wilmington.
