SPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College announced the 2017 baseball schedule today, with 19 of the first 25 games of the season at home. A three-game road series against Villanova and trips to Clemson and South Carolina are also on the slate for head coach Todd Interdonato and his squad.
The Terriers will play a total of 56 games, including 28 contests at Russell C. King Field on the Wofford campus. Southern Conference home series will be played against Furman, VMI, Samford, and Mercer. League road series include trips to Western Carolina, The Citadel, UNC Greensboro, and East Tennessee State. The team will play 26 road games, along with a pair of neutral site games at Fluor Field in Greenville and in Lexington, S.C.
“This will be one of our most challenging schedules in recent memory simply for the fact we are playing so many games away from home,” said head coach Todd Interdonato. “We view each season as an opportunity to continue the progress our overall program. This year’s team will be asked to show growth as a program by being competitive on the road. We are excited about adding new opponents in new locations as well as continuing great partnerships with teams we’ve played in the past.”
Last season, Wofford posted a 30-28 overall record. The Terriers reached the 30 win mark for the third straight year and secured a 12-12 Southern Conference mark. In 2017, the team returns a total of 25 players from last season, with ten freshmen joining the squad.
