Long Beach, Calif. – Dirtbags head coach Troy Buckley has unveiled his team’s 2017 home schedule, showcasing a number of exciting matchups. Long Beach State opens the season with a marquee home series against Oklahoma, Feb. 17-19, setting the stage for what will be a challenging slate of games.
“I think it’s competitive,” said Buckley of the upcoming schedule. “We’re going to get tested, just like I think we all want to have happen in the non-conference. We want to find out who we are as a team and be able to create identity as we go through, before we get to conference play.”
The Dirtbags will play eight of their first nine games at Blair Field, including another home series on the second weekend against Fordham (Feb. 24-26). Also in that initial home stretch, LBSU will play a midweek game against San Diego State (Feb. 28) and an exhibition game against Korean professional team, NC Dinos, on Mar. 1.
Long Beach State has consecutive midweek games Mar. 14-15, starting off on a Tuesday night against College World Series participant and defending Big 12 Tournament champions TCU. The next day, the Dirtbags host Pac-12 opponent Washington State.
On Mar. 24-26, Blair Field will host the non-conference rivalry series between Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton to close out the pre-conference schedule of games. Later in the season, the Dirtbags have Big West home series against UC Riverside (Apr. 7-9), CSUN (Apr. 13-15), Cal Poly (May 5-7) and Hawai’I (May 19-21). LBSU will also host midweek contests with San Diego State (Feb. 28), USC (Apr. 4), and UCLA (Apr. 25).
