The Northeastern Baseball program will head to Cuba this December to take on a couple of teams as part of a winter trip. The trip is set to begin on December 18th and will end on December 23rd. This is the first time that any program from New England will make a trip to Cuba in over 50 years. The full game schedule is still not set at this time but will include games against local squads and a community service team activity.
Northeastern Head Coach Mike Glavine discussed the trip saying the following about the opportunity to represent the university in Cuba “I am extremely excited for our players and program to have this opportunity. I am lucky to coach such outstanding student athletes here at Northeastern and we feel this trip aligns with their goals on the field and in the classroom. A trip like this shows once again the commitment our athletic department and athletic director Peter Roby has for our baseball team. We are excited and proud to represent our program and school in Cuba.”
This is an important step for the development of the Northeastern program which is coming off a 31-27 campaign while finishing 12-11 in CAA play.
