2016 All-Great West League Team Announced

GreatWestLeaguePortland, Oregon: The 2016 All-Great West League team and league individual awards have been announced. League president Ken Wilson made the announcement, following a highly successful first season for the collegiate summer wood-bat league. The voting was conducted by the league managers.

Medford Rogues third baseman Spencer Steer was named the GWL Player of the Year. A product of Millikan High School in Long Beach, California, Steer was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 29th round of the 2016 amateur draft. He was 2nd in the league in hitting and tied for the GWL lead in doubles. Steer will be a freshman at Oregon this fall.

Right-hander Stuart Bradley was selected GWL Pitcher of the Year. Bradley tied for the league lead in wins with 7 and fashioned a 1.75 ERA in 12 starts for the GWL Champion Chico Heat. A Yuba CIty, California-native, Bradley began his college career at the University of Pacific and is headed into his senior year at Chico State.

Chico Heat manager Fred Ludwig was voted the GWL Manager of the Year. The former Paradise (Chico) High School coach and 3-year baseball letterman at Chico State led the Heat to the 2016 GWL Championship.

The Heat had five players named to the first team, the most of any of the six league clubs.
