The Service Academies have always faced a disadvantage in recruiting due to the fact they have to commit to serving time in the Armed Forces once graduating eliminating their chance to play professional sports. This past year saw a Navy quarterback in Kellen Reynolds make a run for the Heisman Trophy and Navy have one of the best pitchers in the country in Luke Gillingham.
