San Jose State University will begin searches to fill the positions of baseball head coach and women’s water polo head coach. Gene Bleymaier, the Spartans’ director of athletics made the announcement.

The new baseball head coach will replace Dave Nakama who completed four seasons with the school. San Jose State had an overall win-loss record of 66-162 and 34-83 in conference play. The Spartans completed their final season in the Western Athletic Conference in 2013 before moving to the Mountain West for the 2014 campaign.

The next women’s water polo head coach will replace Johnny Bega who completed his second season as head coach and tenth with the program. Bega was appointed the interim head coach following the untimely death of head coach Lou Tully one month before the start of the 2014 season and was named head coach in July 2014. The last three seasons, San Jose State had an overall 59-38 win-loss record and a 4-14 mark in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matches.

“We want to thank Dave Nakama and Johnny Bega for their service to San Jose State University, the athletics department and to our student-athletes,” says Bleymaier. “We expect a lot of interest in these head coaching positions and look to complete the hiring process as quickly as we can.”
