Arizona vs Hawaii (11 of 16)The NCAA Super Regionals kicked off on Friday evening with four of them kicking off. Here are some quick thoughts on the games

Arizona RHP Bobby Dalbec absolutely shoved the ball down Mississippi State Bulldogs throats on Friday evening. He pitched 8.2 shutout innings allowing only allowing five hits and two walks as he picked up his tenth victory of the season. Dalbec was selected earlier in the day in the fourth round by the Boston Red Sox as a position player but if he can’t find a way at the plate, he might end up on the mound for the Red Sox. Arizona lefty Cameron Ming was able to get the final out of the game with two runners on by striking out Bulldogs Jake Mangrum on three pitches to pick up the save.

The showdown in Coral Gables was supposed to be between first round picks Justin Dunn of Boston College and Miami catcher Zack Collins. Dunn would get the best of Collins in the first about striking him out but the next time up Collins would have his revenge. With two runners on, Dunn left a fat fastball in the middle of the plate which Collins hit over the right field fence with ease. It was the first of two homers allowed by Dunn in the inning as he later gave up a homer to Johnny Ruiz. Boston College made a late rally but couldn’t overcome the poor inning by Dunn as they lost 12-7 to the Hurricanes.

East Carolina picked up an impressive 8-6 victory over Texas Tech down in Lubbock Texas as they once led 8-3 picked up an 8-6 victory with Matt Bridges picking up the final out to start the series off with a big victory. It was the first Super Regional victory in school history.

TCU used three runs in the third and fifth innings to cruise to a 8-2 victory on the road against Texas A&M. The Horned Frogs were led on offense by Luken Baker who went 2-4 with a homer and three RBI while scoring two runs. The Horned Frogs have a chance on Saturday to clinch a spot in the 2016 College World Series.

Considering the Super Regional results so far, its a shame more Big 12 teams were not taken to the regionals. West Virginia for one was a potential WS candidate…
