Louisville-slugger-logoTUCSON, Ariz. — The 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, features a wealth of baseball talent.

The team is headed by:

Freshmen Co-Players of The Year OF Seth Beer of Clemson and OF Kevin Strohschein of Tennessee Tech.
Freshman Pitcher of The Year RHP Colton Eastman of Cal. St. Fullerton.
Freshman Relief Pitcher of The Year Bryce Fehmel of Oregon St.

Beer, the Player of the Year in the Atlantic Coast Conference, hit .369 with 18 home runs, 13 doubles and 70 RBI.

Strohschein hit .393 with 15 homers, 21 doubles and 73 RBI.

Eastman posted an 8-3 record with a 2.24 ERA, 100 strikeouts and 20 walks over 100 2/3 innings in 16 appearances.

Fehmel was 10-1 with a 2.31 ERA, 2 saves and 51 strikeouts over 26 appearances that stretched over 70 innings.

Here is a rundown on the 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-Americans.

Starting Pitchers
RHP Colton Eastman, Cal State Fullerton: Named Freshman of the Year in the Big West and first-team selection, Eastman posted an 8-3 record with a 2.24 ERA, 100 strikeouts and 20 walks over 100 2/3 innings in 16 appearances.

RHP Braden Webb, South Carolina: Named to the All-Freshmen SEC team, Webb was 10-5 with a 3.28 ERA, 122 strikeouts and 46 walks over 93 1/3 innings of work.

RHP Davis Martin, Texas Tech: A first-team Big 12 pick, Martin was 9-0 with a 2.31 ERA, 2 saves and 56 strikeouts.

LHP Cullen Dana, Seton Hall: A second-team Big East pick, Dana posted a 7-2 record, 2.75 ERA and struck out 66 batters with 24 walks.

LHP Dalton Horton, Texas Christian: A second-team Big 12 selection, Horton recorded an 8-0 record, 2.58 ERA and 27 strikeouts.

LHP Ross Massey, Tulane: A second-team American Athletic Conference selection, Massey was 10-3 with a 2.29 ERA and 51 strikeouts.

LHP Steve Theetge, Bryant: A first-team Northeast Conference pick, Theetge posted a 9-0 record with a 2.72 ERA, 3 complete games and 44 strikeouts.

RHP Nick Lee, Louisiana-Lafayette: Named Freshman of the Year in the Sun Belt, Lee was 7-1 with a 3.31 ERA, 75 strikeouts and 27 walks.

LHP Steven Gingery, Texas Tech: A second-team Big 12 pick, Gingery was 4-2 with a 3.38 ERA and 56 strikeouts.

LHP Tim Cate, Connecticut: A second-team American Athletic Conference pick and Rookie Pitcher of the Year in the league, Cate posted a 5-1 record with a 2.73 ERA, 101 strikeouts and only 27 walks.

LHP Brandon Walter, Delaware: He was 7-3 with a 3.63 ERA, 85 strikeouts and 36 walks.

LHP Bryan King, McNeese State: King posted a 6-4 with a 3.69 ERA and 65 strikeouts.

LHP Austin Drury, North Florida: He was 6-1 with a 4.02 ERA and 48 strikeouts.

RHP Adam Hill, South Carolina: A member of the All-Freshmen team in the SEC, Hill posted a 7-0 record with a 3.53 ERA and 72 strikeouts.

RHP Alex Royalty, N.C. Wilmington: Named to the All-Rookie team in the Colonial Athletic Association, Royalty was 8-2 with a 4.71 ERA and 57 strikeouts.

RHP Andrew Gottfried, High Point: A Big South second-team pick, Gottfried posted a 6-5 record with 2.65 ERA and 48 strikeouts.

RHP Caleb Sampen, Wright State: A second-team Horizon League pick and Freshman of the Year, Sampen had a 9-4 record with a 2.76 ERA and 57 strikeouts.

RHP Dylan Coleman, Missouri State: He was 6-4 with a 4.98 ERA and 82 strikeouts.

RHP Jensen Elliott, Oklahoma State: A member of the Big 12 All-Freshmen team, Elliott posted a 9-2 record with a 3.27 ERA and 69 strikeouts.

RHP Justin Hagenman, Penn State: A member of the All-Freshmen Big 10 team, Hagenman was 6-3 with a 3.84 ERA and 39 strikeouts.

RHP Kyle Bradish, New Mexico State: He posted a 8-3 record with a 4.67 ERA and 82 strikeouts.

RHP Kyle Molnar, UCLA: An honorable mention Pac-12 pick, Molnar was 5-5 with 3.32 ERA, 72 strikeouts and 20 walks.

RHP Michael Dailey, Virginia Commonwealth: Named Rookie of the Year in the Atlantic 10, Dailey posted a 6-0 with a 1.57 ERA and 47 strikeouts.

RHP Mitch Ullom, Houston: Ullom was 7-4 with a 2.88 ERA, 3 complete games and 39 strikeouts.

RHP Noah Song, Navy: A second-team All Patriot League pick and Rookie of the Year, Song was 9-3 with a 2.75 ERA, 3 complete games and 57 strikeouts.

RHP Patrick Raby, Vanderbilt: Raby posted a 7-1 record with 2 saves, 2.61 ERA, 63 strikeouts and 19 walks.

RHP Tristan Beck, Stanford: A first-team Pac-12 selection, Beck was 6-5 with a 2.48 ERA, 76 strikeouts and 26 walks.

RHP Tyler Ward, Indiana State: He posted a 6-5 record with a 3.81 ERA, 1 saves and 40 strikeouts.

RHP William Anderson, Northern Illinois: Named Freshman Pitcher of the Year in the Mid-American Conference, Anderson was 5-4 with a 4.08 ERA and 49 strikeouts.

RHP Bret Clarke, Stony Brook: Named Rookie of the Year in the American East and second-team All-league pick, Clarke was 6-2 with a 2.19 ERA and 55 strikeouts.

RHP Cole Gnetz, Miami, OH: A second-team Mid-American Conference pick, Gnetz posted a 4-2 record with 3.75 ERA and 67 strikeouts.

RHP Scott Politz, Yale: A first-team All-Ivy selection, Politz was 6-3 with 5 complete games, 3.64 ERA and 48 strikeouts.

RHP Jake Irvin, Oklahoma: He posted a 6-2 record with a 4.47 ERA and 51 strikeouts.

RHP James McArthur, Mississippi: He was 6-1 with a 4.26 ERA, 61 strikeouts and 20 walks.

Bryce Fehmel, Oregon State: An Honorable Mention Pac-12 selection, Fehmel was 10-1 with a 2.31 ERA, 2 saves and 51 strikeouts over 26 appearances that stretched over 70 innings.

Chad Luensmann, Nebraska: A second-team Big 10 selection, Luensmann had 13 saves, 1.18 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 28 appearances.

Frankie Bartow, Miami, FL: A member of the All-Freshmen ACC team, Bartow was 5-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 39 appearances.

Andy Pagnozzi, Mississippi: Pagnozzi posted a 8-2 record with 3.31 ERA, 1 save, 39 strikeouts and 9 walks.

Nick Sandlin, Southern Mississippi: A member of the All-Freshmen Conference USA team, Sandlin recorded 12 saves, a 2.38 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 26 appearances.

Zach Wolfe, Seattle: A first-team Western Athletic Conference pick, Wolfe recorded 12 saves, 2.27 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 27 appearances.

Austin Kitchen, Coastal Carolina: Kitchen was 4-0 with 2 saves, 3.19 ERA and 36 strikeouts.

Brady Feigl, Mississippi: He had a 4-0 record with 3.76 ERA and 39 strikeouts.

Sean Hjelle, Kentucky: A member of the All-Freshman SEC team, Hjelle was 4-1 with 8 saves, 3.74 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 21 appearances.

Trey Cumbie, Houston: Cumbie was 5-2 with a 1.29 ERA, 42 strikeouts and 9 walks.

Justin Lewis, Kentucky: He was 2-0 with 4 saves, 2.08 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 21 appearances.

Conard Broom, Mercer: Broom posted a 4-3 record with 4 saves, 3.57 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 41 appearances.

Tyler Starks, Stephen F. Austin: Starks had 7 saves, 3-3 record, 3.64 ERA and 45 strikeouts over 24 appearances.

Durbin Feltman, Texas Christian: Feltman recorded 7 saves with a 3-0 record, 1.88 ERA and struck out 41 batters.

Ethan Roberts, Tennessee Tech: He was 6-1 with 2 saves, 2.94 ERA and 65 strikeouts over 17 appearances.

Catchers
Fabian Pena, Manhattan: A first-team Metro Atlantic selection and Rookie of The Year in the league, Pena hit .350 with 9 homers, 22 doubles and 54 RBI.

Cal Raleigh, Florida State: An All-Freshman pick in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Raleigh batted .308 with 10 home runs, 16 doubles and 50 RBI.

Justin Kunz, Gardner-Webb: A first-team Big South pick, Kunz hit .333 with 6 homers, 11 doubles and 23 RBI.

Matt O’Neill, Pennsylvania: Named Rookie of The Year in the Ivy League, O’Neill batted .341 with 11 doubles, 4 home runs and 26 RBI.

Michael Curry, Georgia: An All-Freshman pick in the SEC, Curry hit .262 with 11 home runs, 6 doubles and 34 RBI.

Nick Meyer, Cal Poly: A second-team Big West selection and Freshman Player of The Year in the league, Meyer batted .301 with 7 doubles and 21 RBI.

Joey Bart, Georgia Tech: Bart hit .299 with 10 doubles and 31 RBI.

Dominic DeRenzo, Oklahoma: He batted .243 with 8 homers, 6 doubles and 24 RBI.

Andy Pratt, New Mexico: Pratt was pressed into duty after Lobo All-American Chris Devito was injured. In only 32 games, Pratt hit .326 with five home runs, seven doubles and 16 RBI as he posted a slugging percentage of .565. All five of his homers were hit late in the season.

First Basemen
Tristan English, Georgia Tech: A first team Atlantic Coast Conference pick, English batted .315 with 5 homers, 21 doubles and 44 RBI.

Joe Davis, Houston: Named Rookie of The Year in the American Athletic Conference and a first team All-League selection, David hit .331 with 14 homers, 17 doubles and 58 RBI.

Charlie Concannon, St. Joseph’s: Named to the All-Freshman Atlantic 10 Team, Concannon batted .282 with 5 homers, 19 doubles and 38 RBI.

Danny Rodriguez, Bethune-Cookman: The Rookie of The Year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and a second team all-league selection, Rodriguez hit .309 with 10 home runs, 10 doubles and 46 RBI.

Greyson Jenista, Wichita State: A second team Missouri Valley pick and Co-Freshman of The Year in the league, Jenista batted .326 with 5 home runs, 8 doubles and 32 RBI.

Rudy Rott, Ohio: He batted .319 with 3 homers, 13 doubles and 39 RBI.
