South Carolina right fielder Gene Cone extended his nation-leading hit streak to 31 games last night with an infield single against Kentucky. The 31-game streak is the longest hitting streak held by a division one player this season, and Cone also has reached based in 34-straight games, which is also the record for this season. Cone became just the seventh player in SEC history to hit for 30-plus games earlier this week against South Carolina Upstate.

Cone will try to increase his hit streak to 32 games, and (7) South Carolina will try to clinch the series against Kentucky with a game two victory.

Strike Two: Aggies upset Gauchos

UC Davis defeated (18) UC Santa Barbara 6-2 Friday. The Aggies scored six unanswered runs after the Gauchos took an early 2-0 lead. UC Davis first baseman Spencer Henderson lead the Aggies with three hits and drove in two RBIs. The two teams will meet for game two Saturday.

Strike Three: Vandy evens things up with A&M

(8) Vanderbilt took game two against (2) Texas A&M Friday 6-1. The Commodores handed Aggies starter Brigham Hill his first loss of the season, and Vanderbilt pitcher Kyle Wright improved 6-3 on the season. Wright tossed six scoreless innings and scattered three hits with six strikeouts.

The Commodores were able to score three of their six runs off two Texas A&M errors. The teams will meet for a decisive rubber match Saturday.
