Strike One: Eagles continue great weekend
Boston College used a bullpen that surrendered just two hits and no runs to take their second-straight victory from (5) Louisville Saturday. The Eagles have now out scored Louisville 8-2 so far this weekend, with both games resulting in victories. Boston College will try for a sweep of the Cardinals on Sunday.
Strike Two: Mediavilla evens the score
(1) Miami used six scoreless innings pitched by sophomore left-hander Michael Mediavilla to even its series against Virginia 1-1. The lefty allowed just one hit and earned his seventh victory of the season, as the Hurricanes supported him with three home runs en route to a 9-2 victory. Two of those home runs came back-to-back when Willie Abreu hit a solo shot following Jacob Heyward’s three-run homer in the eighth inning to seal the victory.
Strike Three: Georgia Tech shows short memory
After the Yellow Jackets dropped a make-up of Friday’s game 8-7 in 10 innings against (22) Clemson, Georgia Tech used a surplus of runs to defeat the Tigers in game two 16-1. Georgia Tech used two home runs from first baseman Tristin English, who ended up collecting four RBIs on his two homers. Sunday’s game three will decide the series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson.
