Strike One: Top-ranked Hurricanes drub Duke
(1) Miami (FL) defeated Duke 14-2 in Durham Friday. Junior first baseman Johnny Ruiz reached base in all six plate appearance and finished Friday’s game with six RBIs. The Hurricanes added seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to put the game out of reach. With Friday’s victory, the Hurricanes have now won 12-straight games and eight consecutive ACC games.
Strike Two: Another tough outing for Dakota Hudson
(6) Texas A&M beat (2) Mississippi State 10-3 Friday, and Dakota Hudson suffered his second-straight loss. Hudson allowed 10 hits and four earned runs over seven innings of work, and his record dropped to 4-3. With the victory, the Aggies are now tied with Mississippi State at the top of the SEC West standings. Only one Texas A&M starter was unable to reach base at least once.
Strike Three: Arkansas’ stock continues to fall
The Razorbacks lost game two to (3) Florida, 9-2, Friday. The loss marks Arkansas’ seventh-straight SEC loss and ties them with Auburn for last place in the SEC West standings. In the seven-game losing streak, Arkansas pitching has allowed at least seven runs in each game.
