Strike One: Mississippi State strikes back
(5) Mississippi State evened their series against (1) Florida Saturday with a 10-4 victory. The Bulldogs used a four run first-inning and tacked five more runs on in the third-inning to make the deficit too much for the Gators. Mississippi State right fielder Cody Brown hit a grand slam in the third-inning to push the Bulldogs lead to 9-0. Florida answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but the Gators weren’t able to overcome the Bulldogs early nine-run lead.
Strike Two: Texas bats create fireworks
(6) Texas A&M hit five home runs in their 15-1 rout of Georgia Saturday. Aggies first baseman Hunter Melton had two hits, both home runs, in four trips to the plate. Melton finished with four RBIs, and he was part of three straight home runs hit by the Aggies in the bottom of the fifth-inning. The victory was the Aggies 24th this season, and Texas A&M has outscored Georgia 20-1 in two games so far this weekend.
Strike Three: Cougars bullpen shuts down the Gauchos
Three pitchers provided (24) College of Charleston 2.2 innings of shutout relief, as the Cougars were able to even their series against (19) UC Santa Barbara at one game each. The Cougars bullpen didn’t allow the Gauchos to collect one hit and used a six run fifth-inning to earn the win. Both teams will meet again Sunday in a series-deciding game three.
