(9) Florida State used a seven run seventh-inning to defeat (4) Louisville 12-7. Seminoles freshman catcher Cal Raleigh went 3-for-5 at the plate, including a home run and three RBIs. Florida State will look to clinch the series on Saturday in Tallahassee.
Strike Two: LSU Milestone
(15) LSU beat (2) Vanderbilt 3-2 Friday and clinched a series win. The win was number 1,300 for LSU skipper Paul Mainieri. Mainieri is now 1,300-662-7 in 34 seasons of coaching collegiate baseball.
Strike Three: Gators grab a big opener
(1) Florida scored five runs off seven hits in the fifth-inning to propel them to a 8-2 victory over (10) Mississippi State. The Bulldogs starter Dakota Hudson had his school record of 34.2 scoreless innings snapped, as Florida right-hander Logan Shore improved his record to 6-0 on the season. Florida’s seven hits in the fifth-inning marked the most hits that the Gators have had in a single inning this season.
