(1) Florida had won 17-straight games going into their game against the Wildcats. Kentucky’s Dustin Beggs earned his sixth victory of the season, giving the Gators their first SEC loss of the year. The Wildcats were led by first baseman Evan White, who went three-for-three with a home run.
Strike Two: Miami walks off for the second night in a row
The Hurricanes defeated (12) Clemson in 11-innings on Saturday. Miami third baseman Edgar Michelangeli collected four hits, scoring two runs and driving in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning. The Hurricanes will go for the series sweep in Sunday’s game three and have won the first two games by just one run in each game.
Strike Three: Georgia Tech shuts out UNC
The Yellow Jackets’ pitching was outstanding Saturday, as Zac Ryan and Burton Dulaney each allowed just two hits each, holding (4) North Carolina scoreless throughout the entire game. Tech’s right fielder Kel Johnson hit his fourth home run of the year, as the Yellow Jackets cruised to the 6-0 victory.
