(15) Mississippi State will go for the sweep Sunday against (2) Vanderbilt in Nashville. The Bulldogs leaned on outfielders Jake Mangnum and Reid Humphreys, who both knocked in two RBIs each in Saturday’s 5-4 win. Each game of this series has been decided by just one run, and Saturday marked the first time Vanderbilt has lost consecutive games this season.

Strike Two: Trojans win series

Southern California has had a tough season so far in 2016. Saturday, they were able to win the third game of their series against (12) Cal, which even their record to 9-9 (2-1) on the season. The Trojans now sit in second place behind three teams that are tied for first place in the PAC-12. Southern Cal outscored the Bears 23-9 in the final two games of the series.

Strike Three: Alabama goes 2-0

The Tide took both games of Saturday’s double-header against (7) LSU. This clinched Alabama their first series-win in Baton Rouge since 1996. Alabama’s starting pitching was stingy in both games, as the two starters combined for over 11 innings of work and allowed just one run. The Tigers scored two in the bottom of the ninth in the second game, but weren’t able to get the tying run, losing 4-3.
