Strike One: (21) Georgia Tech takes second beating
The Yellow Jackets were 12-0 entering this weekend’s ACC opener against (15) Florida State. The Seminoles handed Georgia Tech an 8-2 loss Friday and clinched the series Saturday with a win. Florida State has outscored the Yellow Jackets 22-11 so far this weekend, and Georgia Tech will try to avoid the sweep Sunday.
Strike Two: Titans’ pitching brilliant against Shockers
Three Cal State Fullerton pitchers held Wichita State to just one hit Saturday. The Titans shut out the Shockers in a 5-0 win, and they only allowed three Wichita State hitters to reach base. The Shockers were unable to get a base runner to third base, as the Titans’ pitching was absolutely dominant.
Strike Three: Stormy (and sickly) Saturday
A total of 14 games that were scheduled for Saturday were either cancelled or postponed. 13 of the games were called due to inclement weather that swept across the country Saturday. Georgia State and Lafayette (Pa.) were forced to cancel their series this weekend due to an outbreak of a stomach virus that’s contagious. We hope the rain goes away, and that the students and student-athletes of Lafayette (Pa.) stay healthy and safe.
