TAMPA, DEC. 23, 2015 – The University of South Florida baseball team and second year head coach Mark Kingston announced the Bulls’ 2016 schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
USF, fresh off a 2015 NCAA Regional appearance, will play a 56 game schedule featuring six opponents who also made the NCAA Tournament last season (East Carolina, Florida, Florida International, Florida State, Houston, Tulane).
“Our schedule will again be very challenging,” said Kingston. “In our conference, you automatically have eight great weekend opponents. In addition, we will play many out of conference teams competing for NCAA berths. Our veterans and new additions will be tested consistently throughout this schedule. If we respond well, we should be in good position for postseason play.”
The Bulls have 38 home games at USF Baseball Stadium, including seven in a row to start the season. USF begins the year on Friday, Feb. 19 with a three-game series against Liberty University (Feb. 19-21). The Bulls’ season-opening homestand continues with Florida Gulf Coast (Feb. 23) and another weekend set with Eastern Michigan (Feb. 26-28).
In March, USF will host weekend series against Saint Joseph’s (March 4-8), Holy Cross (March 11-13), Michigan State (March 18-20), and Dartmouth (March 25-27). The Bulls also are at home to play
Florida State, a 2015 NCAA Super Regional team, on March 8 and geographical rival, Stetson, on March 29.
USF begins American Athletic Conference play at Cincinnati (April 1-3). The Bulls’ home conference schedule includes Memphis (April 8-10), Central Florida (April 29-May 1), Tulane (May 6-8) and Connecticut (May 19-21).
Remaining non-conference home games feature North Florida (April 12), Bethune-Cookman (April 19), FIU (April 26), and Jacksonville (May 17).
The Bulls will also visit Florida, a 2015 College World Series team, on May 10.
