CLINTON, S.C. – The 2016 Presbyterian College baseball schedule, announced by head coach Elton Pollock on Tuesday, features 27 home games and eight games against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams. The season begins on February 19 against Michigan State, as part of the First Pitch Invitational at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.
The schedule features 22 games against teams from the state of South Carolina, including Clemson (Mar. 22) and South Carolina (May 10), while 53 of the 56 games will be played in either North Carolina or South Carolina.
PC’s four home Big South series are against Charleston Southern, Liberty, Longwood and Winthrop, while the four road series will take place at Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville. The Blue Hose do not face High Point and Radford during the regular season.
PC opens its home schedule on February 23 against Furman to start a nine-game homestand at the PC Baseball Complex. They will host Wofford the following day, before hosting a three-game series with Towson. Savannah State then comes to town the following Wednesday, with LaSalle scheduled for a three-game series to wrap up the homestand.
The Blue Hose will make a trip to Western Carolina on March 8, in advance of three games in the Perfect Game Spring Swing Tournament in Emerson, Ga. the following weekend. PC opens the three-day tournament on Friday with 2015 NCAA Tournament participant Iowa, followed by matchups with Bowling Green on Saturday and Savannah State on Sunday.
PC hosts North Carolina Central on March 15, before starting a 12-game road trip with a three-game slate against The Citadel at Joe Riley Park. After a midweek trip to Clemson, PC opens conference play at Gardner-Webb from March 24-26.
The Blue Hose will travel to Wofford for a midweek meeting, ahead of a three-game series at UNC Asheville from April 1-3. PC then concludes the longest road trip of the season at USC Upstate on April 6.
The reigning Big South regular season champion Winthrop Eagles come to Clinton for a three-game set from April 8-10. PC then goes on the road for five games, taking on North Carolina Central on April 12, Coastal Carolina in a Big South series from April 15-17, and North Carolina A&T in a midweek clash on April 19.
PC welcomes Liberty to town from April 22-24, before a pair of midweek games at Furman and against North Carolina A&T. Longwood will make the trip to Clinton for a three-games series from April 29 through May 1.
The Blue Hose go to Campbell from May 6-8 in their final road series of the season. They will then take on in-state foe South Carolina the following week in a midweek matchup, prior to hosting 2015 NCAA Tournament participant VCU for a three-game series from May 13-15.
The final week of the regular season features a midweek matchup at home against USC Upstate on May 17 and a Big South series against Charleston Southern from May 19-21.
The Big South tournament is scheduled for May 24-28 at a site yet to be announced.
