FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University baseball team revealed its 2016 schedule on Monday, Oct. 26. The 54-game regular season slate includes two trips to Florida and three games against Minnesota.
NDSU opens the season Feb. 19-21 with three games against Arkansas Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, Ark., before traveling to Beaumont, Texas, for a four-game set at Lamar Feb. 26-28.
The Bison travel to Port Charlotte, Fla., to take part in the Snowbird Baseball Classic March 4-6 and March 11-13 before taking on Army in a single game on March 15 in Clearwater, Fla.
The double round-robin Summit League baseball schedule begins March 18, consisting of a pair of three-game series’ among the six Summit League teams.
The Bison will have five road and five home three-game series in league play. NDSU plays at Western Illinois (March 18-20), Omaha (March 25-27), Oral Roberts (April 1-3), South Dakota State (April 15-17) and Fort Wayne (May 13-15). North Dakota State will host Fort Wayne (April 8-10), Western Illinois (April 22-24), Oral Roberts (April 29-May 1), Omaha (May 6-8) and South Dakota State (May 19-21) at Newman Outdoor Field.
NDSU’s home opener is slated for Wednesday, April 6, against Minot State. Other non-league games include contests at Minnesota (April 5 and April 19) and North Dakota (May 4), and home games against Mary (April 12), North Dakota (April 13), Valley City State (April 20), Minnesota (April 26) and Concordia College (May 10).
The top four teams from the regular season will advance to The Summit League championship May 25-28 in Tulsa, Okla. The winner of the double-elimination tournament will earn the league’s automatic berth in the 64-team NCAA tournament.
