TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State baseball announced its 2016 schedule on Tuesday afternoon. Sycamore baseball is coming off of its seventh consecutive winning season, going 28-26 in 2015. ISU is scheduled to face nine teams that qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2015.
The Sycamores open up the 2016 season with 13 games on the road before returning to Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium. ISU starts the season in Little Rock, Ark. for a pair of games with both the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans and the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles. ISU plays six games in the next five days as they are set to take on Iowa, Boston College, Chicago State, Dartmouth, and Villanova in Port Charlotte, Fla. from Feb. 26th-29th. The Sycamores return to the Midwest to take on Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Ill. on Mar. 1st.
The following weekend, the Sycamores travel to Stillwater, Okla. to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a three-game series. It marks the first meeting between ISU and Oklahoma State since the 2004 season. That game took place as part of the Cox Communications/Lake Area Classic in Lake Charles, La. Oklahoma State served as a Regional host during the 2015 NCAA tournament.
The Sycamores continue the road schedule from Mar. 11th-16th in North Carolina. ISU will compete in the Campbell Tournament against Rhode Island, Davidson, and Campbell Mar. 11th-13th, before heading to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the N.C. State Wolfpack. The two game set will be played on Mar. 15th-16th at Doak Field at Dail Park. The Wolfpack competed in the Fort Worth Regional in 2015.
Indiana State returns home for a double header against Siena on Mar. 19th and a third on the 20th. Nebraska makes the trip to Terre Haute for two games on Mar. 22nd-23rd.
ISU starts a three-game set with the Indiana Hoosiers on Mar. 25th. The game on the 25th will be played at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium, before the Saturday game and the finale on Sunday will be played at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington.
The Sycamores will welcome a national seed from last year’s NCAA tournament on Mar. 29th. The Illinois Fighting Illini come to Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium for a midweek tilt.
Butler also comes to Terre Haute for a split series, playing the first two games at Bob Warn Field on April 1st and 2nd before ISU hits the road for a single game at Bulldog Park on April 3rd. Purdue makes its annual trip to Bob Warn Field on April 5th
The Sycamores then start up their Missouri Valley schedule on April 8th. ISU travels to Carbondale, Ill. to open the Valley schedule against the Southern Illinois Salukis on April 8th-10th.
Indiana State hosts the next three weekend series. The Illinois State Redbirds head to Terre Haute for a three game set from April 15th-17th, 2015 NCAA Regional host Dallas Baptist makes the trek for three games from April 22nd-24th and 2015 NCAA national seed Missouri State on April 29th-May 1st.
ISU splits up their home stand when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for a midweek tilt with the Boilermakers on April 20th.
Indiana State returns to Wichita State for a Valley series on May 6th-8th, before travelling to Muncie, Ind. to face off with Ball State on May 11th. ISU closes out the Valley road schedule against Bradley on May 13th-15th.
The Sycamores return home for the final four games of the season, hosting Eastern Illinois on May 17th before hosting the Evansville Purple Aces from May 19th-21st.
ISU stays at home during the MVC Tournament, as Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium and Indiana State will serve as the host for the 2016 MVC Baseball Championship Tournament from May 24th-28th.
