Lincoln – Head Coach Darin Erstad released Nebraska’s 2016 baseball schedule on Monday morning. The 56-game schedule kicks off on Friday, Feb. 19, when the Huskers open a three-game series against the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. Nebraska will play its first 10 games away from Lincoln before hosting its home opener on Tuesday, March 8, with an afternoon contest against Northern Colorado at Hawks Field.

Nebraska will play in the inaugural Tony Gwynn Classic, an eight-team college tournament in San Diego during the second week of the season. The Huskers will play four games over three days. Games will be played at Fowler Park (San Diego Toreros) and Tony Gwynn Stadium (San Diego State Aztecs).

Nebraska and Wichita State will play a three-game series at Hawks Field, March 18-20. The only other three-game series between the two teams took place in Wichita during the 1983 season.

The Huskers are scheduled to host Nicholls State April 22-24. It will be the first ever series between the teams, and the only previous meeting took place in 1999 at a tournament in Houston.

The Huskers end the season with seven-straight home games. The last time Nebraska hosted seven or more games to end a season was 2009 when NU played its final 11 games of the season at Hawks Field.
