SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team has released their 2016 schedule as they enter their third season as members of NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference. The schedule is made up of 56 games total with 22 of them being home games at Sullivan Field.
The Cardinals will face some top competition in 2016. They will take part in the Irish Alamo Invitational for the third consecutive year, in which they will face Notre Dame, Gonzaga, Bradley and Texas Southern at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio. Some of the other non-conference road games this season include Oklahoma State, Texas State, Dallas Baptist and Baylor. The team will play seven teams that played in the NCAA Tournament in 2015 including Texas A&M who made the Super Regional and TCU who made the College World Series.
The season opener will be at home on February 19 as they host LIU Brooklyn for a three-game series. The first conference game will be on the road as they travel to Hammond, Louisiana to face last year’s top Southland Conference team, Southeastern Louisiana on March 11.
