RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University head baseball coach Jason Stein will not be retained, Director of Athletics Steve Lochmueller announced today. A search for the Colonels’ next head coach will begin immediately.
Stein posted a 178-201 record in seven seasons as head coach. The 1997 EKU grad led the Colonels to a share of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in 2012. His 2013 team advanced to the championship round of the OVC Tournament.
Stein’s squad qualified for the six-team OVC Tournament four times in seven seasons. The Colonels went a combined 4-8 in conference tournament games, with three of those victories coming in the 2013 run to the championship round.
Eastern finished the 2015 campaign with a 21-29 record and placed eighth in the OVC with a 12-17 mark.
