Boston College sophomore RHP Mike King pitched a complete game shutout on Friday to improve the Eagles record to 19-18 and 7-11 in the highly competitive ACC.
Heading into the year, King was slated to be in the starting rotation for the Eagles but a preseason injury held him back limiting him to bullpen work until late March.
King put it all together on Friday though dominating the Georgia Tech lineup while pounding the zone.
“He (King) was pounding the zone throughout the game getting hitters into 0-1, 0-2 holes,” stated fifth year head coach Mike Gambino.
The most impressive part of King’s performance was his effectiveness and how fast he was working through the Yellow Jackets lineup as he only needed 86 pitches while facing the minimum as both runners in the game for the Yellow Jackets were thrown out stealing.
The Eagles only run in the game came in the second when Blake Butera hit a blooping single to left field that fell in-front of Matt Gonzalez who got a terrible read on the pitch allowing Johnny Adams to score from second base.
BC is back in action on Saturday when they face off against the Yellow Jackets again in the annual ALS Awareness Game which was started a few years ago when former BC outfielder Pete Frates was diagnosed with the disease.
