Charlotte (1-2):
Charlotte lost two-of-three to Akron over the weekend. In their 1-0 win J.D. Prochaska went 6 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out five. In a 2-1 loss Sean Geoghegan tossed 6 innings, allowing just 6 hits and 1 walk, while striking out five. In a 5-4 loss Derek Gallello was 2-5 with a run scored.
Florida Atlantic (6-1):
FAU took two-out-of-three against Ohio State over the weekend. They lost the first game 8-2 despite Roman Collins going 2-4 with 2 RBI. They won game two 7-0 with Drew Jackson tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk, while striking out four. Ricky Santiago powered the offense going 3-5 with a run and 5 RBI. They snuck out another win over the Buckeyes 2-1. Brett Lashley was 1-4 with an RBI.
Florida International (4-4):
The Panthers had a tough start to the weekend losing to Georgia Tech 16-9. Eddie Silva was 4-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Jack Schaaf was 2-5 with 3 RBI. They then lost to NC State 3-1 despite a home run from Silva. FIU got back on track with two wins over NC Central. They won the first game 4-0. Brian Portelli was 2-4 with a run and 2 RBI, while Andres Nunez dominated on the mount pitching 6.2 innings, only allowing 4 hits and striking out four. They finished off the weekend with a 7-5 win. Portelli was 3-6 with 2 RBI, and Schaaf was 2-6 with a home run, 2 runs and 2 RBI.
La Tech (3-5):
The Bulldogs kicked off the weekend with a 9-3 win over Arkansas Pine-Bluff. Tyler Clancy gave up a hit and a walk over 7 scoreless innings, while striking out five. Chandler Hall went 3-4 with 2 runs, and Brent Diaz was 2-3 with a home run, 2 runs and 2 RBI. They won the second game of the series 3-1. Phillip Diehl tossed five scoreless innings striking out four. Bre’shon Kimbell scored two runs and drove one in. Steven Blanchard had a big pinch-hit RBI. They dropped the third game 5-4 despite Taylor Love going 2-3 with 2 runs.
Marshall (2-4):
The Thundering Herd had a tough weekend losing all three games they were able to play. They lost the first game of the weekend 8-3 to Alabama A&M. Sergio Leon was 2-5 with a run and an RBI. They then lost two games to #14 Mississippi State. They lost the first game 6-2 and the second game 7-4. In the 6-2 loss Aaron Bossi was 2-4 with a run and an RBI, and in the finale DJ Gee was 2-2 with 2 runs and an RBI and Robert Fajardo was 3-4 with 2 RBI.
Middle Tennessee (4-1):
The Blue Raiders had to switch up their plans for the weekend and ended up playing two games against Western Illinois with a third game scheduled on Monday, Feb. 23. They won the first game in a 16-14 shootout before winning game two 5-4. In the first game Kevin Dupree led the offense going 3-3 with 3 runs and 4 RBI. In the second game Michael Adkins was 2-4 with 3 RBI.
Old Dominion (0-3):
Due to impending weather conditions, ODU had all three of their games against Seton Hall cancelled for the weekend.
Rice (5-3):
The Owls won in extra innings on Sunday to claim a series victory over Arizona. They started out the weekend with an 8-5 win. Ryan Chandler was 3-5 with 2 runs and an RBI, while Ford Stainback was 2-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. They lost a tough one on Saturday 7-6. In the loss Connor Teykl was 2-5 with 2 RBI. They won 6-4 in 10 innings on Sunday thanks to a 5-6, 3 RBI performance from John Clay Reeves.
Southern Miss (3-3-1):
The Golden Eagles had a frustrating weekend losing a couple of 1-run games and then finishing the weekend with a tie on a game that was cut short due to weather conditions. They lost their first game of the weekend 3-2 to North Florida despite Christian Talley not giving up an earned run over 7 innings. He allowed 5 hits and issued 2 walks, while striking out four. Taylor Walker was 2-3 with a run scored. Then they took on St. Louis and lost 2-1 despite another good pitching performance. Cody Carroll went 7 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 walk, while striking out eight. Connor Barron was 2-5 with a run scored. The tie game was against Nicholls St. with the game finishing 1-1 after 7 innings. James McMahon gave up 1 ER on 2 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings, while striking out eight. Matt Durst was 1-3 and drove in the team’s only run.
UAB (6-0):
The Blazers remain undefeated after a weekend sweep over Savannah St. They won the first game 2-1 with Alex Luna posting another solid performance. He lasted eight innings, giving up 1 ER on 2 hits and a walk, while striking out eight. Brett Blackwood was 2-4, while Tyler Mims delivered the pinch-hit, walk-off RBI single in the ninth. The Blazers’ bats were on fire in game two as they won 20-0. Jeff Schalk was 4-4 with 2 home runs, 6 RBI and 5 runs scored. Blackwood was 3-4 with 3 runs and 2 RBI. The Blazers got another late inning win on Sunday in a back-and-fourth game with the final being 7-6. Nathan Vincent was 3-4 with a home run and 4 RBI.
UTSA (5-2):
UTSA had a great weekend picking up three wins over Bryant. They won the first game 8-6 with Kevin Markham going 3-3 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored, and Tyler Straub going 2-4 with 3 RBI. CJ Pickering was 3-4 with 2 runs and an RBI. The RoadRunnes picked up their second victory of the weekend 5-3. Nolan Trabanino gave up 2 ER on 4 hits over 5 innings striking out five in the process. Pickering was 2-3 with a home run and 3 RBI. They finished off the sweep with a 10-4 win. Cody Brannon gave up 3 ER on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out three. Geonte Jackson was 3-3 with 3 RBI.
Western Kentucky (2-3):
The Hilltoppers won the first game of the weekend against Evansville 5-3 before losing a couple of 1-run games. In the win Anderson Miller was 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Josh Bartley gave up 1 ER on 3 hits and 3 walks over 5 innings, while striking out four. They fell to Evansville 11-10 in 10 innings in the second game of the series. Ryan Church was 4-6 with 3 runs and 4 RBI. WKU lost 9-8 in game three despite Church having another good game going 3-4 with 2 runs and 3 RBI. He finished the weekend going 7-13 with 5 runs and 7 RBI.
