Portland, Ore. – Two pitchers combined on a four-hitter and two batters parked baseballs beyond the wall at revamped Joe Etzel Field on Tuesday as Portland shutout Seattle 9-0.
Billy Sahlinger allowed three hits in five innings for the Pilots (1-4), while Ryan Barr had a one-hit, four-inning save performance.
Seattle (1-4) used six different pitchers with Redhawks starter Grant Gunning taking the loss.
Eric Sapp and Turner Gill both hit home runs as Portland picked up 15 hits. Cody Lenahan had three hits, while Sapp, Kevin Wade, Gill, Brady Kerr and Davis Tominaga all had two.
Seattle did cut down two runners at home plate to prevent a double-digit loss.
