“Good luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” – Darrell Royal
Hello College Baseball Fans,
Hallelujah! Baseball season is finally here! You would hardly know it, judging by the fact that I hardly remember what the grass and dirt even look like. Although it has snowed in record breaking proportions here this winter, it hasnʼt been a limiting factor for us. We are blessed with state-of-the-art indoor facilities that allow us to get to work each and every opportunity we get, in preparation for opening day.
This is the point of the season where it all pays off. Our coaching staff has demanded a higher standard of work ethic and determination and weʼve put in the work to achieve success. The 6 AM lifts, the never ending sled pushes, and the gut-wrenching sprints that have pushed us to new limits will all be worth it come Friday night under the lights.
The energy and excitement surrounding this season is electric! I have never been more motivated and excited at the start of a season than this year. My teammates, our coaching staff, and I could not be more eager to pack our bags and hit the roadThursday morning for our season opener down in Gainesville.
Any team in the Northeast will vouch for me when I say that it takes a lot of focus and energy to stay upbeat when running through game-like situations in the gym. I believe weʼve maintained that focus and enthusiasm to improve every day and have held ourselves accountable. As much as I love taking ground balls on the hardwood floors (that is a joke, by the way), I can not wait to strap on my cleats and get some reps on the field.
Our first challenge is a hefty one, faced with the #2 Florida Gators in the opposing dugout, but their preseason ranking only motivates us that much more.
In the words of the great Yogi Berra, “Baseball is ninety percent mental, and the other half is physical.” If we have the right approach and trust in our abilities, anything is possible.
Iʼm looking froward to another great season of baseball and sharing it with you guys!
Until next time,
Tim Caputo
