The 2015 Conference USA Baseball Championship will be held at Pete Taylor Park on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss. The eight-team tournament will be held May 20-24 and marks the second-straight season the championship will be played at Southern Miss and the fifth time in league history.
Southern Miss was chosen as the host site following a bid process from the schools and a vote of the league’s Athletics Directors.
“We are very pleased that the C-USA Baseball Championship will take place in Hattiesburg again this year,” said C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky. “Southern Miss has done an outstanding job hosting this championship previously and our student-athletes, coaches and fans will enjoy a first-class event and quality competition.”
Southern Miss hosted the inaugural Conference USA Baseball Championship in 1996 and welcomed the event again in 2005, 2009 and 2014. With hosting the tournament for the fifth time in the league’s 20 years, Pete Taylor Park has been the championship site more than any other facility.
The 2015 Conference USA Championship will feature the top eight finishers in regular-season league play. Those eight teams will play a double-elimination format. The championship game will take place on Sunday, May 24, and be televised by CBS Sports Network. Rice is the defending tournament champion.
Conference USA will field 12 baseball teams for the 2015 season: Charlotte, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Miss, UAB, UTSA and WKU. The league’s 20th season begins Friday, February 13.
