BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— Games against Mississippi State and Arizona in a tournament in Starkville, Miss., as well as home-and-home games with in-state SEC foes Auburn and Alabama highlight the Samford baseball team’s 2015 schedule, released by Head Coach Casey Dunn on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs play their first eight games of the season at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The team opens its season with a three-game home series against Radford, Feb. 13-15. Samford will then host Alabama A&M, Feb. 17, and Austin Peay in a three-game series, Feb. 20-22.
After a home game against Troy on Feb. 24, Samford will travel to Starkville, Miss., to take part in a tournament at Mississippi State. In the tournament, the Bulldogs will take on Arizona, Feb. 27 and Mississippi State, Feb. 28. Samford will then play both Arizona and Mississippi State on Mar. 1.
The next week, Samford will host in-state rivals UAB (Mar. 3) and Jacksonville State (Mar. 4). The Bulldogs will then play a three-game series at Memphis (Mar. 6-8).
Samford will then travel to Auburn for a midweek game (Mar. 10) and Jacksonville for a weekend series (Mar. 13-15). The following week, Samford will take on Alabama at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium (Mar. 17).
The Bulldogs will then open Southern Conference play by hosting Furman in a three-game series, Mar. 20-22. The team will then travel to Montgomery to play at Alabama State on Mar. 24.
The following weekend, Samford will play at new Southern Conference member VMI, Mar. 27-29.
Samford will play its next eight games in the friendly confines of Joe Lee Griffin Field. The team will start the homestand with a game against Auburn on Mar. 31. The Bulldogs will then host UNCG in a Southern Conference series, Apr. 3-4.
Next up, Samford will host Alabama on Apr. 7. The team will then host Murray State in a weekend series, Apr. 10-12.
The Bulldogs will then play eight of their next nine games on the road. During the road swing, Samford will play midweek games at Troy (Apr. 14) and UAB (Apr. 28 at Regions Field), and weekend SoCon series at East Tennessee State (Apr. 17-19) and Wofford (Apr. 24-26). The lone home game during the stretch will be against Alabama State (Apr. 21).
Samford will host The Citadel in a three-game SoCon series, May 1-3, and then play at Jacksonville State, May 5.
The Bulldogs’ final three home games will come in a three-game SoCon series against Western Carolina, May 8-10. The team will wrap up the 2015 regular season with a series at Mercer, May 14-16.
The 2015 Southern Conference Tournament will be held May 19-24 and Joseph P. Riley Park in Charleston, S.C.
